Out of the Ashes - Warsaw Story
On Thursday, May 24th, the Club will host Marek Krawczyński, an architect, musician, activist, and filmmaker. At 7pm we will show his new outstanding documentary Out of the Ashes, telling a story about rebuilding Warsaw after the World War II. Free admission. Refreshments will be served.
Marek Krawczyński has more than 80 public and private architectural projects in his portfolio, including the award winning additions to the Australian Museum and the reconstruction of the Sydney Opera House, which included building of new floors underwater. He has received many awards and prizes.
In 2004 he travelled back to Poland with a drawing (a huge hand crafted panorama) of the Old Town created in 1952 by his father Zbigniew Krawczyński, in order to immortalise the achievements of the Warsaw architects after World War II. For the last 5 years Marek Krawczyński has promoted Polish and Australian culture, held lectures and developed business and artistic cooperation between Poland and the rest of the world.
He often lectures about Polish and Australian culture and architecture throughout Europe. He is working jointly with a group of experts to organise an international art project linking the creations of artists from Poland, Thailand, Australia, France and Germany in order to expand cultural appreciation between distant regions of the world and to build cultural bridges between nations.
